The history of the Schweizerhof in Obereschach
From farming to hospitality
The history of the Schweizerhof begins in the 16th century. A deed from 1558 records that Marte Schwiitzer was granted this farm as a perpetual hereditary fief. The name of our present-day inn probably dates from this time.
From 1390 until secularisation in the 19th century, the Knights of St John held the lordship of the village of Obereschach and were thus also the landlords of the Schweizerhof. Over time, the farm changed owners again and again. The name, however, has remained to this day.
Since 1860 the inn has been owned by the Laufer family. Our current head chef, Johannes Laufer, already runs the traditional family business in the fifth generation.
